Returning the nutrients in the form of mulched grass can add many macro and micro nutrients to the lawn. Phosphorus, Potassium, and Nitrogen will be returned to the soil where it should be. Yes Phosphorus is good for your grass, in fact it is essential. However too much Phosphorus running into lakes promotes growth of algae which is undesirable and that is why Minnesota fertilizer does not contain Phosphorus.
